After a successful OFFSET Festival last year in London, the festival travelled North to Sheffield for its 2016 outing which was held at the Crucible Theatre and featured 2 stages with 60 guest speakers. So with it being just up the road from our Melbourne studio, the 2D team headed up for the 2-day event which was part of the Sheffield Catalyst Festival of Creativity.
With so many well know speakers such as Moving Brands, MPC and Pentagram. A real standout speaker was the vibrant and playful Amsterdam-based designer Marta Veludo.
Marta Veludo's work is very bright and happy and when looking at her portfolio of work, you know she has fun with every project she approaches. Inspired by pop culture, folk art, pound shops and Tumblr, she combines different disciplines and mediums to build engaging experiences. Marta's client list is pretty impressive too! Having created work for Adidas, Reebok, Vice and Rituals to name a few.
For her Reebok Creative Hub project which celebrates 25 years of the Ventilator. She teamed up with her good friend Ricardo Leite to create the collaboration 'Marta & Ricky'. Marta & Ricky were commissioned by 'Soon in Tokyo' to create 4 intros for 4 videos which were created by CANADA, Nacho Alegre, Tomas Pena & David Alonso Mendez. The 4 intros are short but visually stunning.
Marta has also worked with Restored, an Amsterdam-based retailer. Creating a unique collaboration between the two. Marta set out to design a cap that would embody the spirit of celebration. The outcome of experimentation with real confetti pieces creates a truly festive cap. Along with the cap, she also created a window display which gained inspiration from a pool party where geometric piñatas and abstract gradient shapes announce what will fall on your head!
