Olympic Branding Project

For the first time in history the Olympic Heritage Collection has made Games logos and identity elements available to international licenses

Prior to the 1990’s most design elements weren’t digitized, Vancouver based design firm Hulse & Dureel travelled to archives and private collections around the world to examine over 25,000 Olympic artifacts. From their findings emblems, mascots and pictograms were recreated from scratch using their original techniques. For wordmarks, classic typefaces like Univers, Helvetica, Times, and Futura were adapted to reflect the movable type printing process of their respective times and places. Physical artifacts were also referenced against the modern Pantone colour matching system to ensure tonal authenticity. The result is the most comprehensive, authentic Olympic art and design collection ever created.
